Objectives
Born in Bordeaux, the passion for good food and good wine comes naturally. As the grandson of a local wine-maker, I quickly learned how to pair food with wine. Willing to work in the Food & Wine industry, I started as a waiter at the age of XX, and quickly reached the position of Chef de Rang and Maitre d’Hotel assisting both the Restaurant Director and the Sommelier. My desire of increasing my knowledge and skills led me to go back to school to learn about Wines & Spirits and to become a Sommelier. I went to London as a Sommelier in order to learn English but also to be exposed to a wider range of products, culture and inspiration. In XXXX, after X years in London, I left my fine dining experience as a Head Sommelier / Wine Buyer. I went to the United States to learn more about different types of customer sales, marketing sales and to establish new customer relationships and extend my business network. Eager to find new challenges, I accepted a position in a retail store. For X years I worked in one of Manhattans most up-and-coming wine retail stores, first as a Wine Consultant, then Assistant Wine Director and finally Wine Director / Wine Buyer. I now work as a Wine Manager / Wine Buyer for a smaller yet renowned wine retail store in Brooklyn. Driven by an insatiable ambition, I’m seeking a new management position and new challenges as a Wine Director / Buyer (or portfolio/sales Manager) for a private company, retail, restaurant chain, importing company or even a Chateau / wine estate related preferably with French, Spanish & Italian wines. Your customers will benefit from my strong customer-service orientation, expert problem-solving skills, and ability to quickly learn and master new environments. Your team will benefit from my proven ability to outperform customer expectations, sales quotas & project timelines within competitive, deadline-driven environments. In me, you will find a highly motivated individual seeking to leverage XX years of top-ranked contact and sales performance into fine dining Restaurant & Retail. I bring to the table a skill set that is transferable and relevant to your needs, including meticulous organization, well-honed presentation abilities, excellent communication skills, very good wine knowledge and an experienced discriminating palate. I’m ready to relocate as soon as end of March XXXX.

Professional Experience

Wine Manager / Wine Buyer
XX/XXXX – to Present www.HeightsChateau.com , Brooklyn, New York
&#XXXXX; I have been working very closely with the owner of the shop to buy the wines and spirits for the store (approximately XXXX different wine labels and more than XXX spirits labels). I manage and supervise a team of XX people including X wine consultants. My work consists of buying the wines from different sources (wholesale, négociant or direct import) and selling the wines by giving suggestions to our customers: coming to the store (XX% of the business, also including local deliveries within Brooklyn Heights), ordering by phone (XX% of the business including deliveries to Brooklyn, lower and mid-town Manhattan, Part of Queens, Bronx and Long Island) and shipping (X% of the business). My presence on the floor and the close interactions with my customers are important, exciting, challenging and rewarding. I also answer the phone to take regular orders and special orders; respond to the questions in the emails sent daily to the shop for special events and party (wedding, anniversary, birthday, church events, school events, wine tastings, etc…). I lead by showing the example, so on top of my manager responsibilities, I help everyday my colleagues in each department of the store (cashier, stock, sales, etc...). I increased the sales, augmented the turn over of the inventory and subsequently the profit of the store. I supervised all the tastings in the store, gave my team more freedom of expression regarding the type of wine that we should carry in the store and valuated their opinions in my buying decisions. I oriented the business toward better and smaller producers from around the world through new exciting small dedicated importers and suppliers. I developed a close relationship with my customers and the suppliers that enabled me to have better access to rare and exceptional wines. After a strong winter XXXX, my team and I achieved a great year (XXXX). Meanwhile, I continued to write the Wine of the Month Club and daily contributed to the writing of our website, our brochure and our catalogue. I made most of the decisions regarding the content of the articles and the choice of wine to advertise. I spent a lot of time taking phone orders and on the floor to help our valuable customers on their purchases. I organized different tastings for the store, outside of the store and hosted a few tastings for customers. Each year, I also organized and participated to annual trip to Bordeaux to taste the Primeurs (barrel tastings of the new vintage). A trip that brought us to other well known regions like Champagne, Southern-Rhone, Languedoc-Roussillon, Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Priorat, Txakoli, etc…My motivation and dedication to my job, as well as the support of my team made my promotion available and allowed me to once again achieved my goal.
