Description du poste : Application Manager Breeding (m/f) BioScience, one of the three business groups of Bayer CropScience AG, is a leading international player in research, development, and marketing of seeds. BioScience provides sustainable, plant-based solutions for the agricultural, health, nutrition and industrial sectors mainly through modern plant breeding and plant biotechnology innovations. Innovation is focused on three market areas: vegetable seeds, agricultural crops (canola, cotton and rice) and novel plant-based products for health, nutrition and biomaterial applications. This center of excellence integrates plant biotechnology research and BioScience business support functions to optimize the innovation process in a responsible and sustainable approach. Job description As the Application Manager Breeding, you need to coordinate and execute implementations and migrations to global breeding applications. You formulate the functional developments requested by Oilseeds users and negotiate their realization with the software providing parties. It is also your task to coordinate the development and maintenance of interfaces between the different breeding applications. The testing of new applications or new releases also falls under your scope of tasks. You advise, propose and inform the Head of Breeding regarding long term and short term data management strategy. The Application Manager Breeding is the direct contact for the bio information group of Bayer (Gent) and the Application Managers Breeding in other Market Area's. You are expected to discuss the technical facilitation with ICT department (local, regional and global) and to keep existing applications within breeding department up and running. It is your responsibility to coordinate and direct the support of the users of breeding-specific software. This means that you advise, propose, communicate and inform the users regarding new developments in both existing and new applications. You coordinate the development of documentation, the execution of training programs and the helpdesk support given by the application assistants breeding. It is your task to coordinate and execute the purchase and maintenance of hardware (local/regional/global) as hand-held computers, barcode scanners, balances, label printers etc. Within your budget responsibility, you prepare, and after approval of the Head of Breeding, implement a specified AMB budget and operational plans for AMB-projects. You analyze discrepancies in realized and budgeted costs. You also organize the purchase of material in line with the BioScience Purchase policy. It is the Application Manager Breeding who purchases software and hardware (global) in line with BioScience ICT policy. Profil du candidat : Your qualifications We are looking for someone with experience in breeding applications and extensive practical experience in plant breeding OR experience in ICT technologies and databases (Oracle, MS-Access, database connectivity) and reporting tools. Preferably with a Bachelor/MSc degree in Agriculture or Biological Sciences. As you will be part of an international team, you must be fluent in English and Dutch and show good communication skills. Knowledge of MS-Excel and VBA is highly valued.
